Job Description

My client has been an all-in supplier (B2B) of green energy solutions for nearly 15 years. They provide solar installations, ranging from mounting materials to complete systems, and related energy solutions such as storage batteries and electric vehicle charging stations, to both large and small installers from their inventory.

The organization is part of an international group that, in addition to energy solutions, is also involved in establishing industrial projects in the manufacturing industry. The group has its main headquarters in Belgian Limburg and branch offices in the Netherlands, Asia, and the USA.

With this ambition, a new position has emerged, and they are seeking a Business Development Manager (based in the vicinity of Antwerp) who will contribute to the development of activities as an all-in supplier of green energy solutions for the Spanish market.

In this role, the primary focus is on developing business opportunities and further expanding the initial phase. You will report directly to the CEO in Belgium.

Specific expectations include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies and business cases to achieve the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identifying concrete business opportunities in Spain, evaluating their potential, and developing and implementing possible market entry and growth strategies.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs at the local level.
  • Determining the appropriate locations for warehouses and offices and initiating the operational setup of these local operations.
  • After the setup, leading sales teams and managing the sales process from prospecting to deal closure. This often involves remote work.
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements with customers and partners. Building and maintaining relationships with customers, distributors, and partners.
  • Collaborating with internal teams such as marketing, product development, supply chain management, and finance to ensure alignment and successful execution of the business strategy.
  • Managing budgets and forecasts to ensure profitability and growth.
  • Analyzing sales and market data to evaluate the success of the business strategy and adjusting plans and budgets as necessary.


What knowledge and experience do you bring?

The ideal Business Development Manager possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team. You should also have a good understanding of sales, marketing, and finance, as well as the industry and market trends that affect the company’s operations. You should have approximately 10 years of experience as a B2B business developer in new markets and knowledge of Spanish go-to-market strategies. Industry experience is not of great importance, but experience in an organization involved in the import and distribution of a physical product in a B2B environment is preferred. You should be fluent in Spanish and English, with knowledge of the Dutch language being a plus. Location: vicinity of Antwerp, and you must be willing to travel frequently.
